Anne Thomas is an American-born violinist living and working in London for 15 years. Anne studied in the BMus program in the Indiana University School of Music (now the Jacobs School of Music). Subsequently she studied violin performance and chamber music at Washington University in St. Louis within the wide-ranging curriculum of an American Liberal Arts education, where she ultimately earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. Anne earned the Licentiate Diploma in Violin Performance (LRSM) December 2016.

Anne was concertmaster (leader) of the Washington University Symphony Orchestra. She led the St Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra and played Scheherazade solos, and won the Brentwood Symphony Orchestra concerto competition. While in the United States she freelanced as a solo violinist and chamber musician and played with orchestras including the Boston Philharmonic under Ben Zander, Birmingham-Bloomfield Symphony Orchestra, and the Grosse Pointe Symphony Orchestra.

Her post-secondary and conservatory teachers include Fabienne Fauritte, Jacques Israelievitch and Henryk Kowalski. Before university and as a young student she studied with Brent Akins, Gladys Lang, and Suzuki violin teachers including Gayla Rothermich, Marian Williams and Donna Wiehe.

Since moving to London in 2000, Anne has performed with orchestras including Corinthian Chamber Orchestra, Chelsea Opera Group, Covent Garden Chamber Orchestra, London Phoenix Orchestra, and Sinfonia Tamesa. She has performed in major London venues including St. John’s Smith Square, Cadogan Hall, the Barbican and Queen Elizabeth Hall.

Anne has considerable chamber music experience and regularly plays chamber music for weddings, religious services, corporate receptions, private parties and similar. She a regular soloist and chamber musician at the American International Church where she also recruits players for ensemble performances. Anne’s professional life until 2012 also included a successful 20-year career in marketing and corporate leadership, and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Anne teaches violin privately in north and west London, and at Southbank International School. She has achieved Level 3 teaching certification with the European Suzuki Association and is enrolled in the Level 4 course. She is a member of the British Suzuki Institute and London Suzuki Group, and teaches at Little Venice Suzuki Group.
